ActiveDAS and 5G: how ZoneDAS Two simplifies indoor mobile coverage

Zyxel ZoneDAS Two solution for indoor 5G mobile coverage

Indoor coverage remains a strategic challenge

Although mobile networks continue to evolve, indoor environments remain one of the most complex areas to serve effectively. Signal attenuation caused by building materials, increasing user density and growing bandwidth demand all place additional pressure on network infrastructures.

As organisations accelerate digital transformation initiatives, connectivity inside buildings has become just as critical as outdoor network performance.

Introducing ZoneDAS Two

ZoneDAS Two is Zyxel's ActiveDAS solution designed to support modern multi-operator indoor mobile networks.

The platform distributes radio signals through a fibre-based architecture that enables long-distance transport between network equipment and coverage points. Fibre links can extend up to 2.5 km while maintaining a scalable and modular design.

The solution supports a broad range of frequency bands used by public mobile operators, including both FDD, TDD technologies and Private 5G.

You can also discover the ZoneDAS One solution, which is based on PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology and an Ethernet infrastructure, as well as ZoneDAS Two+ for large-scale sites and 4x4 MIMO technology.

Designed for 5G performance

One of the distinguishing capabilities of ZoneDAS Two is its support for up to 300 MHz of contiguous spectrum in n77 and n78 bands.

This enables operators and integrators to deploy high-capacity 5G indoor environments capable of supporting increasingly demanding applications and user densities. The solution also supports multi-operator architectures and can distribute services for up to four mobile network operators within the same infrastructure.

A scalable architecture

ZoneDAS Two was designed to evolve alongside network requirements.

A single architecture can support up to 128 Remote Units through optional expansion modules, allowing coverage to be progressively extended without redesigning the complete solution. Additional components can be integrated later during operation, providing valuable flexibility for growing sites.

Remote monitoring capabilities further simplify operation and maintenance through web-based management tools and compatibility with standard network management systems, enabling complete network management from the master unit to each antenna.

Typical deployment scenarios

ZoneDAS Two is particularly well suited to environments where coverage quality, capacity and scalability are business critical:

  • Office buildings
  • Hospitals
  • Industrial facilities
  • Campuses
  • Airport and transportation infrastructures
  • Public venues

In these environments, ensuring consistent indoor mobile coverage contributes directly to operational efficiency and user experience.

Key benefits of ActiveDAS

  • Long-distance coverage
  • 5G readiness and Private 5G support
  • Multi-operator support
  • Scalability
  • Simplified operations
  • Source via radio or repeater
